Like A River in Flood

Like a river

in flood

filling a dry lake floor.

Like rain

drenching dried twigs.

An inundation of delight, today,

the joy of this world

and the journey beyond—both

Came to me, hand in hand.

O jasmine lord,

I saw the foot of the holy one today

and am whole.

You are the forest

you are all the great trees
in the forest

you are bird and beast
playing in and out
of all the trees

O lord white as jasmine
filling and filled by all
